6. How to request a record
- Use the prescribed PAIA Form 2.
- Describe the requested record clearly, identify the right you seek to exercise or protect, and explain why the record is required for that purpose.
- Include proof of identity and, if acting for someone else, proof of authority.
- Send the completed request to the Information Officer by email or to the address listed above.
Any prescribed request or access fee will be communicated before processing where applicable. The Information Officer will respond within the period required by PAIA, ordinarily 30 days, subject to a lawful extension. The response will state the decision and, where relevant, access arrangements or reasons for refusal.
7. Grounds for refusal and remedies
Access may be refused on grounds in PAIA, including protection of another person’s privacy, confidential commercial information, safety, legally privileged material, research information or records whose disclosure is prohibited by law. A record may be severed so that any part not protected can be disclosed.
If you are dissatisfied, you may use the remedies described in the Information Regulator’s PAIA Guide, apply to a court where appropriate, or submit the prescribed complaint form available on the Information Regulator’s PAIA forms page.
